Open Enrollment for 2024-2025 is
January 2 – February 29, 2024

All interested families are invited to submit an enrollment application during the open enrollment period – one for each child they wish to have attend Riverway. Enrollment is limited and when spots are available they are filled on a first come first served. Students not admitted due to space limitations are placed on a wait list and will be included in the admission lottery.

All interested families are strongly encouraged to attend one of two enrollment meetings, either on the second or third Wednesday of February at 6 pm. This meeting is approximately 1 hour long and culminates with a tour of the school. Time will be available for Q & A.

These may be scheduled when submitting an application or after attending an enrollment meeting and last for 30-45 minutes.

If a greater number of applications are received than space available in any given grade, families will be notified and a lottery will be held on March 1 at 3:30 PM. This is a blind lottery and families are not required to be present during the lottery but are welcome to attend.

During the 2023-2024 school year, there will be no tuition charged for preschool. All enrollment is free of charge. Once a student is enrolled in preschool, they can be guaranteed continual enrollment in subsequent school years.

All 3, 4, and 5 year old students admitted to Riverway must have a preschool screening document on file prior to the first day. No child will be allowed to attend the Children’s House without this document. This screening is done by the Winona School District and is independent of Riverway. Parents/guardians are responsible for making the necessary arrangements for the screening and submitting the screening document prior to the first day of school.

This screening program gives a careful, simple screen of the child’s developmental growth including vision, hearing, growth, development, and speech. There is also a discussion with a nurse on the dental, nutritional, and immunization status of the child.

The goals of the program are to identify health concerns and allow sufficient time to assist parents in obtaining remedial care. Nurses will assist parents in follow-up care where indicated. Winona Area Public School children will be issued an invitation on or near their third birthday. For more information visit:
