We are delighted to announce Riverway's Staff of the Month goes to
(drumroll...........)
Ms. Molly!
Ms. Molly is a secondary para who wears lots of hats and fills many roles. She builds strong rapport with students and works hard to create fun opportunities that build connections and community.
Some folks who nominated her shared:
"She is kind and helps the whole school. We LOVE you Molly!"
"She is kind and patient."
"She is a good leader."
- Olivia
"She takes in a lot of work and is doing a lot for us. Thank you, Molly!"
- Payton

E1 is so grateful to have Jaxsyn!
He embodies Riverway’s values and is always doing his best. He is a kind friend, helpful student, and is an active participant in his learning.
Jaxsyn is an excellent role model for others and we appreciate him so much!
Way to go, Jaxsyn!

Coltrane - We are so thankful for your presence at Riverway.
You are an excellent example of owning your education and experiences; committing to your classwork, pouring into your projects, and making the most of opportunities available to you. You are curious, eager to learn, open to feedback, and of course, incredibly creative (writing, artwork, and puppetry, oh my! ) just to name a few.
You are respectful to staff.
Kind to fellow classmates.
A good example to younger students.
And a caretaker of your things and surrounding environment.
We are so glad you are a part of this community!

Let's take a moment to celebrate Otto from Children's House for being a shining example of Riverway's Key Principles. Here is what his teacher had to say about him:
Otto, you have a big heart that shines so bright! Every day in Children’s House, you show all of us how to be kind, respectful, and caring. Thank you for being an awesome helper to your classmates, your teachers, and your little brother, Ronan, who is brand new to Children’s House this year.
You work hard, you are smart and funny, and you are a great friend to everyone in our class. We are so happy that you are here!
Way to go, Otto!

Help Our Students Shine – Become a Tutor!
Every child deserves the opportunity to be a successful learner. That’s why Riverway Learning Community is looking for AmeriCorps tutors to help students build their skills and confidence.
Tutors serve during school hours and spend their days providing students with extra practice and skill building. With the support of an on-site coach, tutors use activities proven to help students improve in reading or math.
No experience? No problem. Our tutors come from all walks of life. Whether you're a recent grad, career changer, stay-at-home parent, or retiree, you can make a great tutor!
Part-time and full-time positions for the 2026-27 school year are available beginning in October. Tutors receive a paycheck every two weeks plus an education award to pay for qualifying college tuition or student loans. Tutors aged 55 or older may gift the education award to their child, grandchild, stepchild, step-grandchild, or foster child.

Today was EXTRA special because Laurie Krause (Riverway Founder), Cindy Hoberg (quilter extraordinaire) and Nancy Ventura (master stitcher) presented us with the 25th Anniversary Quilt that was created by many hands with a lot of heart over the course of last year.
A total of 88 squares contain artwork from students, staff and people impacted by Riverway over the years. The four corners show the progression from starting on the banks of the Mississippi, to MN City, to the corner of 61 and finally, our current location.
We are excited to display this quilt that symbolizes so many wonderful things. THANK YOU, Laurie, Cindy, and Nancy and all the students that helped make it happen.

We are acutely aware of how privileged we are to have a lake out our back door and the boats/equipment to use it. Introducing and honing these skills will hopefully lead to lifelong enjoyment of being on the water.
BIG THANKS to all the staff and community helpers that make this a possibility. Paddle on!

Looking for a flexible gig with wonderful people in a unique environment? Look no further! Riverway is hiring substitute teachers for all grade levels and positions.

We have a hedgehog named Romeo in our library.
Dislikes: bright lights, scary noises, and roller coasters.
Likes: meal worms, naps, and a chillin' with students in his snuggly "pocket".

Freshly harvested sweet corn from the family owned "Produce Plus" in Eyota, MN! Our taste-buds and tummies are thankful for all the local farmers who provide outstanding produce to our students.
And we cannot forget to thank this hardworking crew of E2 students for tackling the job of shucking the corn. Way to go!

We were crazy fortunate to witness an amazing moment in nature. We watched a Bald Eagle catch a fish, only to have an Osprey swoop in and steal it right from him! The two birds chased each other around for a brief moment before the Osprey flew off in one direction with the fish, while the Bald Eagle headed off in the other.
One of our students summed it up perfectly: “Did we really just see that happen?!”
It truly was an unforgettable wildlife encounter! Along the way, we also spotted Black-capped Chickadees, Great Blue Herons, Nuthatches, and Downy Woodpeckers.
What a beautiful afternoon filled with birds, excitement, and a little bit of wild nature magic!
We can’t wait to see what adventures are next for Wings of Change!

The Master Gardener Volunteer program is an educational program created by the University of Minnesota Extension to share researched gardening best practices that promote healthy landscapes, healthy foods and healthy lives.

We are so thankful for how she helps us solve problems, hold us to a high standard, challenges us to be kind humans, believes in our capacity to grow, gives us tools to change, demonstrates joy and playfulness and cheers us on EVERY DAY.
Ms. Shelby sees the value in our differences and beauty in our scribbles.
